Gotta Love This Judge In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation for Easter and Passover holidays and decided to contact the local ACLU about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while the atheists had no holiday to celebrate. The ACLU jumped on the opportunity to once again pick up the cause of
the godless and assigned their sharpest attorneys to the case. The case
was brought before a wise judge who after listening to the long,
passionate presentation of the ACLU lawyers promptly banged his gavel and
declared, The lead ACLU lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? Surely the Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. And the Jews--why in addition to Passover they have Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...and yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!" The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said "Obviously your client is too confused to know about or for that matter even celebrate the atheists' holiday!" The ACLU lawyer pompously said "We are aware of no such holiday for atheists, just when might that be, your honor?" The judge said "Well it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st!" "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" - Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1 Anonymous
Gibson Film 'Passion' to Debut on 2,000
Screens LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Sometimes a little faith can go a long way. Mel Gibson (news)'s controversial new film, "The Passion of Christ," which at first had a hard time finding a distributor, will be independently released on about 2,000 screens in the United States next month, a Gibson spokesman said on Wednesday. A release on 2,000 screens is similar to what a major studio release would receive. The movie, whose dialogue is in Latin and Aramaic, covers the final 12 hours in the life of Jesus Christ. Seniors Stand Up for Religious Freedom at Community Center (CNSNews.com) - Sixteen senior citizens stood up for their religious rights - and won. A Dallas suburb revoked its ban on gospel music, preaching and blessings at the city-owned community center, after the seniors sued the city of Balch Spring for squelching their religious freedoms, the Houston Chronicle reported. "Telling seniors they cannot pray or express themselves religiously is against the law; and if you violate seniors' religious freedoms, there will be a price to pay," Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel with Liberty Legal Institute, was quoted as saying.

After four years of arduous service, marked by
unsurpassed courage and fortitude, the Army of Northern Virginia has
beencompelled to yield to overwhelming numbers and
resources.
I need not tell the survivors of so many hard-fought battles who have remained steadfast to the last that I have consented to this result from no distrust of them; but feeling that valor and devotion could accomplish nothing that could compensate for the loss that would have attended the continuance of the contest, I determined to avoid the useless sacrifice of those whose past services have endeared them to their countrymen. By the terms of the agreement, officers and men can return to their homes and remain until exchanged. You may take with you the satisfaction that proceeds from the consciousness of duty faithfully performed, and I earnestly pray that a merciful God will extend to you his blessing and protection. With an unceasing admiration of your constancy and devotion to your country, and a grateful remembrance of your kind and generous consideration of myself, I bid you all an affectionate farewell.
